BREAKthrough kicks off

On January 10, 2023, the BREAKthrough consortium came together for the official kick-off meeting. About 30 members from 14 organisations attended the virtual 3-hour gathering.

After an inspiring word of welcome from the project coordinator Prof. Jean-François Collet (UCLouvain), all participants were given the opportunity to introduce themselves to each other. As part of the introduction activity, the consortium also created some word clouds together, illustrating the BREAKthrough team’s international and multidisciplinary character (and associative thinking!). The main part of the meeting consisted of a scientific project overview by the coordinator, updates and an overview of management and admin activities, and info sessions on the topics of recruitment, training, and communication & dissemination.

The kick-off meeting allowed all members of the BREAKthrough consortium to meet each other and discuss the first steps of the exciting four-year journey ahead, filled with research, training, and collaboration. The partners involved are ready to begin the recruitment of the eleven doctoral candidates (DCs) who will conduct their PhD research within the BREAKthrough project. We look forward to tackling antimicrobial resistance together over the next few years!

In the meantime, learn more about the BREAKthrough consortium and the organisations involved and the future DC’s supervisors and the expertise they bring to the project. Follow us on Twitter and LinkedIn to stay up to date with the project!
